Foam Therapy for Varicose Veins

What is Foam Therapy?

Foam therapy, commonly used in treating spider veins, involves injecting a sclerosing agent (a vein-closing medication) directly into the vein with a fine needle. This procedure is also known as vein injection therapy. The medication works by chemically constricting and closing the vein, which may vary in duration depending on the patient. Foam therapy is a highly effective, low-risk treatment method when performed with precision and care.

After Treatment

Immediately following foam therapy, the vein closes; however, it may take time for the visible appearance of varicose veins to disappear completely. This period varies from person to person, and in some cases, full clearance of the vein can take several months. The larger the varicose vein, the longer the time required for it to disappear. Foam therapy can effectively treat medium-sized varicose veins, although multiple sessions may be necessary in certain cases.

Patience is Key in the Treatment Process

Patience is essential during this treatment process. It may take several months to see the best results of the therapy, typically depending on the individual’s physiology. Sclerotherapy, or injection therapy, is a painless procedure.

Stages of Injection Therapy for Varicose Veins:

  1. The foam medication is injected into the vein with a fine needle.
  2. The foam closes the vein from within, stopping blood flow.
  3. Over time, the vein closes and gradually fades away.

Foam therapy achieves successful results, especially for spider and medium-sized varicose veins, and offers high patient satisfaction post-treatment.
